GEM Volunteer Background Check Process

Background Check

FREQUENCY: If it is your first time serving with GEM, you will need to have a Background Check completed within 1 year of the start of your project. For repeat service with GEM, this needs to be completed every 3 years.

US Citizens (Click Here)

This online service is for US citizens, ages 18 and over. The cost is $27, payable by credit/debit card.

UK Citizens

If you have a DBS that is valid meeting the frequency requirements listed above, you can forward the verification to your team leader.

If you do not have a valid DBS, this is the online service for UK citizens, ages 18 and over.

NOTE: Please email shorttermvolunteers@gemission.org to be connected to the GEM UK office to access the DBS service.

Canadian Citizens

You will be contacted by GEM staff after Online Form is submitted.

All Other Countries

Please check online or with your local authority to discover background check options available for your country.

If the church or organization you are serving through will be providing confirmation of completed background checks, use this link for the required form for each team.
