Söderhöjdskyrkan was planted in 1985 in the Brandbergen area about 20 km South of central Stockholm. About ten years later, the church was able to purchase a 100-year old building in the trendy Södermalm area of Stockholm. Söderhöjdskyrkan seeks to be salt and light in the community through hosting a café for marginalized people Monday to Fridays. Those in need can come in for breakfast, coffee and both physical and human warmth. Teams from the church also go out every other Friday evening to a nearby square to grill pancakes and talk to passers-by about Jesus. In addition to the main Swedish-speaking congregation, Söderhöjdskyrkan is also home to a Portuguesespeaking congregation with their own Brazilian pastor.
Project Plan
This restoration project gives those who enjoy using their hands an opportunity to influence homeless in Stockholm for Christ. Söderhojd Church is a dynamic ministry to homeless and others in need. In order to better continue serving the congregation and community the church building needs volunteers willing to use their skills to serve. From new flooring to fresh paint, members of this team will assist in making the church an inviting safe place for those Söderhojd Church serves. This opportunity requires a variety of skill sets, so all are welcome.
